Does anyone know if Seat dealers stock the metal impellor water pumps? Or is this pump only available at independant garages?

Due for cambelt change, so looking for prices and recommendation of garages dealers or Independant around Northamptonshire, coventry, Leicester etc

I have my 2002 leon cupra 180bhp booked in for a cambelt change which includes cambelt kit, water pump(metal)antifreeze including flushing the system and auxilary belt all new original parts and a free aircon refill worth £50 alone(summers nearly here),, from a audi,vw,seat vagcom specialist for £300 all in, inc vat,,,a real bargain if you ask me

That's a good price. Do you mind saying where you got it done on here or via pm if you prefer?

Also does anyone know which water pump (metal) it is? part no. or where to buy? dealers only stock the std plastic one.

circoli water pump (v's KWP)

I've now been to my nearest ecp and seen both the pumps in the flesh (or shall I say in the metal!)

There is definitely a difference in build quality and finish; the KWP is far better build, better metal, seems heavier too. So can see why there is price difference, that said they would both function & perform the same.

I bought the Circoli one as the prices in store were slightly higher than online and there was no margin for discounts as ecp prices are cheaper than what other companies charge for these pumps (who buy from ecp). I was told a lot of garages buy the pumps from ecp and they always opt for the cheapest in price..i.e the circoli!

Mmm, thinking I should have gone for KWP..really nice people at ecp despite it being busy, very friendly so could easily swap this one if I wanted.....

There was some confusion concerning which water pumps are metal and often people have gone by looking at photos on ecp site and chosen the all silver rather than the one that is silver with black. I can confirm that the one which is silver with black is all metal and seems to be constructed with a better quality/finish of metal than the all silver one.
The KWP water pump -is also all metal construction

Circoli and KWP Water pump

The only differences I could see between the two apart from the price (KWP costs more) is the KWP the outer ring metal is constructed of better quality and finish of metal and seems more solid. There appears to be more shafts on the KWP and placed closer together, whereas the circoli has 1-2 less impellors and they are placed further apart, approx 7 v's 9 (on the KWP).

So, hope to be fitting the KWP with the cambelt.

I was quoted 140 labour + parts for cambelt and water pump exchange.

Guys i heard different stories about those water pumps. Some people say to stay with plastic pumps as they are plastic for a reason and their design was updated long time ago ... others say to go with a metal impeller pump.

What did you go for ?

hi is there anyway of checking the water pump is gone, i suspect it maybe on the way out. coolant does seem to be flowing but can only check on idle when car is stationary not not sure under load.
