the 16v engine looks lovely :)
i painted the cover of my 8v the same shade of red as the GTI badge on the grille and used the metallic black from my paint code on the 3D SEAT bit in the middle of the cover and it stands out nicely - better than a smelly induction kit sitting there!

i love my 8 valve, nice and nippy low down, upsets many a car! helps having a k & n 57i, nice cold air feed, and a magnex on the back, gives it that edge! i've driven a 16 valve and although it's much better come higher revs, you have to work it harder, and i can't be assed to pay 700 quid more on the insurance to bother with one! :D both lovely cars though, i think they are the nicest looking cars out of there league. FULL STOP!

That's my old car. I miss it, it was mint. It went like stink and used to suprise a lot of people. It had 126BHP on a rolling road.

I tried an induction kit, and also a panel filter with a big cold air feed and both made it loose a bit of its lovely low down pull, so I found the standard panel filter was best in the end.

I love my little 8v, It pulls all through the revs... And it's easy to drive when you chilled out or when you floor it.

I wouldn't sell it just because it's only an 8v - they are still a great car.

I drove my other halfs Asta 1.8 16v last night - 143bhp or something it was nice to drive but I don't like driving in high rev's all the time to go fast. But it was quick :D put a grin on my face.

But I still wouldn't get rid of my 8v not yet.. Love it to bits and so much nicer then my little 1.4.

I rolling roaded my car a month or so ago and it came out at 119.5bhp :) I'm well chuffed.

Mine was a Pipercross, maybe K&N are better. Plus you will get a nice induction noise.

I didn't do anything to the engine because I didn't feel the need to. I fitted the larger front brakes from the mk3 20VT, mk3 20VT 16" wheels and lowered it a bit and it went and handled superbly.

I'm going to lower mine at the end of the month just trying to find some 60mm springs though.

They are quick but I want faster thats why I was going to sell it in a 3 - 6 months and get the turbo then chip it and get it up to about 200bhp

Its all about the turbo :D
