Spoke to the kid an l have given him till saturday to let me know what he want's to do.

Speak to your insurance company. if you've had an accident regardless of if you claim you need to inform them. in addition - the earlier you start the ball rolling the better! he's not going to roll over & give you £5k for your car to save himself the slight increase in premium.

also if you leave it over a certain amount of time i.e. 7-14 days from the time of the accident then you can't claim

and if your insurance company turn around and then say you cant claim, and the kid does not pay up, then you could be stuffed, as I am not sure where you would then stand in terms of rights etc

Been away with work so not been able to update.

Had a call from the garage and they have had the go-ahead from the insurance company to fix the car! They quoted around £2.5k.

Got a car to use today till mines fixed and l got a lovely C4

It's not that bad tbh... Worse things can happen than having someone drive into you.

Just from the perspective that I've never had a crash (touch wood) and that my pride and joy could be written off by someone else's carelessness would be gutting to me -- but yes, there's worse things that could happen to a person, I agree.
