It's been a long time since i've used one of these forums but i need help so i thought i'd ask you guys.
I have a 2002 leon cupra which cuts out every now and then whilst driving. All of a sudden the power just goes, even with my foot flat to the floor. I change down a gear and pump the gas pedal a bit then it comes back to life.
Any ideas what it could be?

No-one? :(

Just to add a bit more info and as an example, i'll be accelerating through the gears and drop into say 4th, hit the gas pedal and a second later BANG no power, it almost puts you through the windscreen.
I'm no mechanic but i'm thinking some sort of fueling issue? Anyone local to Northamptonshire fancy having a look for some beer tokens? I live near santa pod.

On the home page somewhere there's a 1.8T faq, I think it might be either in the ibiza section or the leon section but it might have some answers. I don't know much about the petrols myself though.

You need to get the fault codes read, either by a garage with proper Vag diagnostic equipment or by someone with VCDS on a laptop. A post into the VAG-com section of the forum may find someone close to you who's willing to help.

Sudden deceleration is more than just a lack of power, it's the engine shutting down for some reason. An intermittent fault in a critical sensor, or the connector to it, could do that: engine speed sensor for instance. The fault codes should give a strong pointer to where to look.

I don't have much experience with the petrol engines in the Leon either :)

OEM turbo inlet pipe on chipped cars are known to collapse specially in higher gears where the vacuum inside is greater

Would a silicone inlet pipe fix this problem , just a quick word bowt leaks on cupras are they common just that my mates lcr steams up like crazy insid where as mine literaly fills passager footwell with water it breakin my heart it .The previous owner ov my car had wired a sub under all the plastic down the side but when i open the door after rain all gaskets are dry putin a cover over it every day is a pian in the arse ,btw how do i upload a profile pic.

well your problem may be something entirely different but if this is your problem then yes, a silicone tip would fix it.

Never had any problems with leaks on my LCR so cannot help you there mate
