Hello all

When driving my LCR, I have noticed the steering when turning can be quite heavy.

I must admit I am comparing to my old car (golf gti) but that was much lighter.

Are LCR's known for quite heavy steering when turning? (i.e 90 deg turn). Just want to check with you people before I look into this a bit more. Really could do without any more expense this month :cry:
 
When stationary the steering shouldn't be heavy but it does weight up at speed. If its heavy when stationary the you have a problem as this is power assisted
 
Were the Golf GTI tyres as wide as the LCR?
Were the tyres as good?

Pretty similar, although I would say the LCR are slightly wider. Tyres on my old golf were better though (cheaper ones on LCR when I bought this!):doh:

I would not have thought though enough difference in tyres to make steering this much heavier. It really does feel a lot heavier.

Mine is and hasn't got a problem. It's all relative as I came from a car with much smaller wheels.

Could it be because the Cupra R has less power assistance? That's what I've always assumed.

the LCR steering is a fair bit heavier than the cupra.
i think the LCR has a different steering rack. but anyway sportier cars tend to have heavier steeering.

im my opionion the cupra steering is too light.

what pressures you got your tyres at?
 
Can it! I didn't think it was fly-by-wire?

I'm not sure, I don't have one.

I read a post earlier today somewhere on the forums about someone asking what else it could do other than...and listed some stuff.

Might have been any of the different SeatCupra.net Forums though. Well, Mk1, Mk2 or TDi

I will find out this weekend when do a full clean and check of the car. Had it 2 weeks (nearly) and the car was checked all over before I took it and tyres are at Seat recommended pressure, whatever that is.

What is the best pressure just so I know when I check on Saturday, maybe sunday?
 
be careful if you're using a garage forecourt pressure gauge, they can be notoriously unreliable as they are hardly ever calibrated.

Chhers - i'll bear that in mind as that is where I was going in a few minutes.... Might use a footpump instead, thats if I still have one knocking around:happy:
 
Some of the cheapo digital gauges you can buy are pretty accurate, so they can be a good investment!
