For the last couple of weeks ive noticed that my lcr mk1 doesnt start first time. It doesnt happen all the time, normally like yesterday where ive come home, got changed and within half an hr jumped back in the car and it wudnt start. took about 3 attempts before it would.

It seems to happen randomly.

Any ideas?

can you hear the fuel pump prime when you open the drivers door? as the fuel pump should prime when you open the door maybe a faulty door sensor/switch or possibly a coil pack on its way out?

Ive read on here that someone with the same problem ie trying to start the car while still warm, it turned out to be the Temp sensor of all things am sure if u got vag com on it it would shed more light

my fuel pump doesnt prime and now my car doesnt start altogether...i thought it might be the fuel pump, but you think it could be the door sensor?where would that be situated?

Its funny you should say that as ive already got a engine management light on my dash with 2 codes, one of air flow and the other on the temperature thermostat. Its been on for about 3 motnhs now, but untill recently i didnt have any problems with the car.

But lately this starting problem has erm started and ive noticed sometimes that when i put pretrol in my car starts to over rev when i strat the engine again.

All connected to fault codes?

Reading the threads i need to replace the engine coolant temperature sensor G62. What is the part number and where can i order one from?

Also ive read that to replace the part it is located here:

remove the engine cover, look down the gearbox side of the engine, you should spot the sensor fitted into a plastic housing on the coolant hose. 4 pin connector, sensor will prob be either black or green.

is this correct? is it as simple as popping old one out and putting new one in?

Yea correct when i replaced mine im sure it was black an replaced with a green one was a good 2 years ago tho sorry i carnt be more help

Hi mate

I've had to get a new engine speed sensor aswell due to EPC light coming up, over-idling at 1200rpm so getting that.

But linked to this problem I think is my engine coolant temp sensor is knackered I think. Coolant warning light comes on and flashes now and then.

This is the sensor I ordered..

Just found a thread that has proven to be very useful:

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=98116

It states the exact problems im facing:

* Starting the engine when engine is warmish or warm, idle rpm immediately is 1200 - 3000 rpm. (happened again this morn after driving for about 20 mins, had to stop off for a few minds. Went to switch back on, started fine but was over revving).
* Bad acceleration during warming up. (it kinda jerks for a bit)
