Sorry to hijac. Ive had the same warm start problem develop in the past two days its happened three times now. I do not have a engine managment light on could it still be this?

Sorry to hijac. :)

Ive read a few reports that the this fault causes more fuel to be used aswell, i have noticed that im putting more petrol in and getting less miles, apart from the cost of petrol, could this be the cause?

sorted mate! part should come later this week, fitting will commence on sunday, that guide above is quality! think il have the laptop powered up in case things go pearshaped!

Just to add my 2p; I had a very similar problem and it turned out to be my fuel pump relay needed replacing. The garage did my temp sensor at the same time though as well.

right after a little more than 10minutes, well 40minutes actually! lol the sensor is finally in!

All was going to plan at first, easily located the sensor, the retaining clip was really tightly fitted so used a pair of plyers to pull it out without breaking it. and popped out the holding case with sensor attached.

I used a flat head screwdrived to pop the sensor out. All good, when i came to fit the new green sensor in the holder, it wud not for the life of me click back into place! I struggled with it for about 15 mins thinking i had ordered the wrong part, then i tagged my dad in to help me and we had to file a bit of the plastic from the top of the green sensor a lil as i it was a about 2 millimeters bigger than the previous one. After that it clicked in place, but the rubber seal back on and fit in the hole, and put the retaining clip back in.

Tried to pull it out when all fitted in and was firmly in place.

Now the test is when i go out later, should be a 20min drive, when i stop im going to leave the car for 5 mins and try and restart it again and see what it does.

right drove to gym and back and the car was fine, but just come back from the pub and the car is leaking water all over the place, all over the pipes etc in the engine bay. the water was seeping from the sensor area.

Took out the new sensor and seal and refitted the old sensor with old rubber ring seal and its stopped leaking.

Drove round block and all looks fine.

Now im not sure what it could be, could it be the new sensor not fitted properly, i think its the rubber seal that may have slipped out of place or maybe its just the new rubber seal. Im going to try the new sensor with the old seal 2moro and see what happens.

Any other suggestions appreciated.

thanks

the rubber seal is tiny, cant believe this is the cause of all this headache! i read a guide someone else put on the audi forum and they had the same problem as me, and it was all to do with the rubber seal not being put in properly. Will try and report back.

Thanks

Now im pissed! [:@]

I went out ten minutes after posting this and geuss what f*@^ing car wouldnt start again!

:censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:!!

AAHHH

right i am having the most frustrating time trying to fit this bloody thing!

fitted the new sensor with old rubber seal - leaked
fitted new sensor with new seal - leaked

fitted old sensor with new seal - leaked
fitted old sensor with old seal - stopped leaking

so thought id quickly try new sensor with old seal - leaked

put old sensor with old seal - keeps leaking!

Everything i try now, it leaks!

given up for a 10 minute eating and refresh break before giving it another bash!

if this doesnt work, how much does a dealer charge for this kinda thing?
