Changing Brakes What Tools Needed?

As title really, changing my discs, pads ( on front) and fluid just wondered if you guys have any handy tips on doing this? and if there is any special tools?

you are going to struggle bleeding them on your own,you need a friend or an e-z bleed.the rest is just normal tools/spanners screwdriver/drill for the pesky disc rettaining screw
caliper wind back tool is a great help too

so by the sound of things it's the retaing screws that are a bit "tricky" to get out. As for the bleeding i've got a mate coming over to help who calls himself a mechanic on weekdays,

Can i use a big set of pipe grips instead of a wind back tool?

You could do but you might catch the piston seals, just be careful, its a 17mm socket size to get the caliper bolts off. the disc screw is an arse! good luck

a G clamp may be of use,but i invested in a laser wind back tool,not that expensive and been used by my family a couple times.

I'm using ferodo ds2500 pads and in the box there is 4 bolts about 25mm long does anyone know where these might be for? my first guess is they are replacment bolts but for what i don't know? caliper?

Good thinking! i think i've got a couple of g-clamps kicking about somewhere, i had a look today for a windback tool but in my local motor factors i could find one, so i will probably use a clamp instead.

they are replacement carrier bolts. blue loctite on the end yes?

You wont get the rear caliper pistons back in with a g clamp or a set of mole grips lol. You need to buy a Laser Brake Caliper Piston Tool for that. Other than that you'l need 13,14 + 15mm spanners and a pozidrive screwdriver but id you an impact driver as the discs are on tight
