Yea mental..just test-driven it and it seems fine..brakes already seem better thatn they were and not even bedded in yet. Now for a nice cup of T

I will be needing to change my front pads some time soon too. Apart from the probs with the pin is it just as easy as the ones I did before on my TDi sport??, anyone got a step by step removal guide?

In theory it is very easy with the AP calipers.

  1. Jack up car / remove wheel
  2. Remove 2 hex bolts across top of calipers (6 or 7mm I think)
  3. Lift out the sleeves/tubes they were in
  4. Use 4mm punch to hammer out retaining pins from the front
  5. Remove anti-rattle spring/plate
  6. Slide out pads
  7. Push back pistons if needed (keep an eye on brake fluid level)
  8. Slide in new pads (copper grease on the back is good here)
  9. Place anti-rattle spring/plate back on the caliper
  10. Hammer the (new) pins back in from the back (I lithum-greased them up first). Probably easiest to do bottom one first and place it over the spring. Then do the top one while pressing down on the spring so it holds it in
  11. Put the 2 sleeves/tubes back in
  12. Put the hex bots back in

The good thing is you don't have to unbolt the actual caliper at all when changing pads.
