Changing top mount bearings - spring compressor needed?

is your car lowered. if so there might not be much tension there. on my golf which has the same strut it had 40mm lowering springs and i changed the top mount with out clamps

for the sake of bout 20 quid id use sping commpressors wldnt want a spring to hit ya

The ghetto way is to use the weight of the car to compress the spring for you and then jack the car off when it is undone.

However, spring compressors are much safer
