I have a 2021 Seat Leon PHEV. The car doesn't lock the charger when plug in and therefore not charging.

The white light is on by the car charging port before plugging it in and once plugged in the light just goes off (no colours) and doesn't lock in place.

The car knows the cable is plugged in as it show on the dash but grey and the app says 'charging cable: connected and unlocked'

I've tired the granny charger at home and a different cable at work with a wall box.

If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

Thanks

Update
I removed the 12v battery for about 10 minutes, reconnect it and now it’s charging fine, locking in place with a green light. Hoping it was just a reset.

Hi, has the problem occurred again? I have the same issue, but I just lock the car in the app and then it works. Have not reset the battery yet, but I think it’s a software issue and soon will have my modules updated at the dealer.
Curious to know if you had the problem later again or not. I had it about 6 times now. I don’t think the charger type matters

Anyone know if this is something they can fix at dealership? Just got a new 2025 plate leon FR and it’s done it twice. If I force it to charge straight away it’s fine. It’s just for whatever reason when on the charger scheduled charge it won’t wait. Some days it’s fine.

driving me mad,

I think this is not related to the issue that is said. You might have to check your settings for the charging to see if it only charges on specific days or specifc times. I am not familiar with the new software of the 2025 version, but expect it to be the same as previous. If issue persist, definitely go to dealer as it is warranty if not user error.

Seems the same issue, sometimes I can plug in charger and the charger does its thing when electricity is cheap. The cable stays locked in place.

other times it throws up and error on the app and when you pull the cable it comes out. If you open and lock the car it locks the cable in place but then after 1min maybe it unlocks the cable and throws up this error in app.

I just went to check on it as it was scheduled to charge and the cable pulled out, app was saying error check cable.
I put it back in and it scheduled its charge, Locked and began charging.

it’s def annoying, we have 3 in the fleet. Nobody else has mentioned it yet but I may be the only one to have the app

(edit to add: the scheduled charge from seat doesn’t exist yet.. the only thing scheduling the charge is my ohme charger via octopus intelligent go)

I am using it to charge directly without scheduld to charge. But maybe the charger is not compactible with it.
If I come back and leave my keys 3meters from the car the cable is still locked in.
Is your cable as well still locked in. Even when you have the fault.
Because you can fill in that it unlock after charge.

Next is info over the CCE standards and its protocol.
If I look to this Proximity wire is being used to detect if the cable is pluggen in the car.
That is working fine if I read it correctly.

Next there is the Pilot wire.
This delivers 12v and after connecting a cable to it. It will drop to 9v.
With a pwm signal it will tell the car what the max charging is from the controller.
If all is ok, then in the car it will start charging for the car. By activating normal relay that is brining the 9v signal even lower to 6v.
At this point the charger will start the charging your car.

In your situation it can be the case that the pilot wire is connected and everything is done. But not activating the last part 6v to activate the charger.
It can happen dat during waiting the signal is corrupt or the wait time was too long and it went to sleep mode for example.
That when you replug it in it will charge without any problems.

Did you tried it with normal charger or with the granny charger form the car itself?

Thanks for detailed info.
The 2 times it’s happened is after heavy rain. It maybe that the wall charger head is damp. I will try with the granny plug charger next time it throws error and try to notice if it is only happening on wet days.

Who knows it can be indeed that out of safety it didn't start to charge.
But yep till this moment also not charged when it was raining. The plug should be capable to handel it correctly even in the rain.

Unknown about the charge cable you use. If it is as well the standard cable for the car.
I know that the well known blue Mennekens cable have used different cables. Some of them used a thinner cable. Because people role it up tight. I know that the pilot and proximity wire can break and deliver as well issues.
I am not saying that this will be the case because then you should have also issue with chargeing it direcly

For me it was purely the granny charger and the issue might have popped up after the charger was damp (didn’t keep a log) then I bought a new granny charger, (brand DEFA) and haven’t had issues since.

in your case however it considers a new car and it could be the cars issue. Test everything in the normal way, so no planned charging, only original charging cables and no cheap Chinese ones and test differences between granny chargers and wall box charger. Note the results down and see if any results pop out. Than take those results to the dealer.

Interesting. It’s a Ohme pro charger and we have no issues with the pure EV (23 Mokka).
I think next time it happens I’ll plug in with granny and see what happens. Then note if it happened on a wet day.
