Did you have a look up under the bumper between the arch and front of it? Or is that where your extra bumper attachments and stuff go?
There is a complete shield under the entire engine, so without getting the car up on ramps and removing that, it's not easy to get access from underneath. Plus there are the twin intercoolers on each side.
Aha that's what that bracket must be for, mine is FMIC as standard so there's a howking great gap where your SMIC is 
That might explain it then. Still, quite happy where the drivers side is and the passenger side is better, so all in all I'm quite content

i'm tempted to buy two slim versions for my LCR - H7 and H1 and cram them into the same space as one 'normal' kit
it's an extra $80, though.

I can't see you having too much of a problem mounting 4 ballasts... it's what I'm planning on doing!
That said , it might be a little more tricky if you're planning on keeping it all looking OEM.
I've currently got one ballast stuck to the washer bottle, and the other stuck to the body panel right next to the airbox (both using that 3M Dual Lock heavy duty velcro stuff).
Planning on sticking the second drivers side ballast to the other side of the washer bottle, and the second passenger side one underneath the slam panel for the headlight (like UncleFester). It might not look brilliant, but it should do the job just fine. Besides which, they're easy enough to remove and relocate if I decide I want to start entering shows!
Just pop your bonnet and have a look round the engine bay - you're sure to find plenty of locations.

heh. i may just stick them all to the underside of the bonnet, and never open it
i got a reply from mydepots who say that the slim ones aren't that much slimmer, and you can't mount them on top of each other, so there goes that idea

The ballasts need a bit of space around them, especially the top part of them, so they don't overheat. So stacking them would cause problems in the long term.
Was also thinking of getting a second set for the high beams but in the end decided against it because:
a) everytime you just want to flash someone it will need the high voltage kickstart (not sure if it will even just flash)
b) havent had to use high beams since I've installed the HID

It will definitely flash, and it will be full brightness too because of the instant voltage spike when they are first turned on.
But I agree about your second point, I've not needed them much since I installed my HID's

I need my full beams every day, thanks to the little winding unlit roads that I drive down to get to and from work.
Whilst the HIDs are fantastic, and thousand times better than the halogens, I'm still using the full beams a lot, and the comparison with the HIDs makes the halogens seem even crappier than they did before. As such I reckon HID full beams are the way forward - and you can't go wrong at the price MyDepots are charging!

how much are u guys paying for these kits,
do the actual bulbs just fit into the same holes tho,

so how much are you looking for a set of the hid kit for the full beam, the dipped ones iv just brought the super bright led ones recommended off here for about 16 quid i think, so its just the main beam i need isnt it,
You have Sidelights (W5W), dipped (H7) and main (H1). Generally its not recommended to have HIDs for main beam due to the power at time.

There is no point in just upgrading the full beams, as you don't use them as often as your dipped (main) beams and your full beams will make your current main bulbs look like a candle in comparison!
Upgrade the main beams (You'll need a H7 kit) and you'll see what I mean. However impressed you are with your current bulbs... double it and add some more!
