XD: I was referring to a 5-speed, wasnt doubting the fact that its been done to a 6-speed!
We are obviously referring to different upright parts! There is a small upright piece which the side to side cable is attached, on the engine side of the mech. On the air box side, there is a big solid metal chunk which I presume is possibly a counter weight (?) which is upright and taller than the metal bracket which the side to side cable is connected. The only way I could see to get the pin closer to the pivot is either a fairly radical redesign or put it on this metal chunk, bit that would only get it marginally closer at best I think.
Make sense?!
