Iv been thinking of getting my car resprayed and doin the prep work myself was there much involved
could I ask what you done

fully strip the car down to a shell so takethe following off :-


interior
windows front and rear
bumpers
headlights
rear lights
black vinly stickers on door pillars and rear windows
wipers
front and rear screen
all door seals
spoiler
wipers
roof rails
mirrors
indicators
shuttle panel
side skirts

so pretty much anything you donnt want over spray on etc etc

i had the bumpers and bumpstrips smoothed and the at the same time then it was then painted twice and then left a week the flattened then rebuilt then a month later flattened down and re polished so the paint is like glass

stripping the car down took me 3 hours by myself then rebuilt it in 3 days

Ok is it essentiall to take out the front and rear window? also you say take the interior out what do you mean just the saets or door cards, dash, carpets, steering wheel ect ect also what stages did you go through to prep your car

well jake at panelcare took the frontand rear screen out due to the seal that goes round it would be too hard to mask up so took them out

i was told what ever could be taken off remove on the interior so i took the rear seats,pass seat, all door cards then all a,b,c grey plastics out which have to be taken out to get to undo the side rear windows so it only went over with the carpets, dash,steering wheel,drivers seat and headlining in

all i did to help jake out was i had been washing the car in washing up liquid for 2 months to strip the wax off as there was a lot on in the once stripped when over everything with flash flash thinners and pre wipe degreaser to get more of the wax taken off then once i got it to jakes he did the rest of the prep work , only reason i did the stripping down was £500 cheaper for me to do it so that paid for my custom code stage 2 map

well sold the skyline last week the other half went nuts so bought 2 new play toys

no rubbing down done jake looked at the car before it was stripped down so new what dents there where but they where all car park dent from the previous owner

the insides where blended in as jake said the doors are covered so they will not of faded which the looked at them said where fine so all blended in good as new

we painted inside all of the shuts, and backs of the doors then did the car complete and re laqured the door shuts

well the day off work so i have managed to do the pillar posts well one side anyways the pass side went abit wrong , but now looks like a cupra again did not like it with the yellow posts

and with the headlining been done in suede for so long started retrimming the plastics plus painted the sunvisors , grab handles and finally fitted my carbon interior mirror

powder coated parts picked up strut brace,rocker cover and bonnet stay black magic

while fitting de blinged the i/c pipework with a scotch pad

getting there slowly but not sure what to do next but think paying the £3k visa bill will be first
