Do you guys clean your tdi engines?

If so what parts do you clean?

I have seen pictures of some of your engines and they look really clean, cleaner than mine..... Problem is I dont really know what parts I should be cleaning, if any.

A guide would be nice

The outside of the car hardly ever gets cleaned, let alone the engine.

A nice layer of honest dirt, that's what I like to see. Easier to spot & trace fluid leaks then

Nothing better than a mucky TDI block.

I have on occasion, taken a bottle of white spirit and a toothbrush, to parts of the chassis in the engine bay, and the odd "crevice" and then wiped up after with a cloth. However, apart from polishing the ally turbo pipework, I very rarely clean the engine at all.
