Climate Control / Climatronic Display Screen broken

Yeah, I had it for £5 right up to the last minute and then a second bid came in and pushed it up to £45 my max bid was £50 I have a feeling it was the seller but can’t be sure, just abit odd if it was me and I wanted it I would have bid again as said £45 is a good price for A1 condition.
Mine was perfect until I had the car valeted, got it back and now it has two segments missing [:@] coincidence :confused: not sure.
 
Was looking at one on eBay this morning that went up for £50 B.I.N. I was umming and ahhing about buying it and just decided "f**k it, I need one and it looks like it's in good knick". Went back to eBay and it had gone up to £60 B.I.N.

Wasn't going to let it go any higher so decided to bite the bullet and buy it. I just hope I can find the time to fit it when it turns up to ensure that it's as described so I can send it back if I need to. Bit weary because the seller is in Poland apparently and I asked whether all of the display segments are working OK, and all of the buttons, I got no reply. So, fingers crossed I guess. Paid with PayPal

99% sure all climate controls from thos toledos and mk1 cupra/cupra r are same (or similar enough) to work on each other. The one I put in was 1M0 820 043 C

I bought a off a 1M0 820 043 C off ebay for £50 and fitted in my car replacing my broken 1M0 820 043 D. The solenoids on all the vents started buzzing in a regular pattern and some of the functions like turning the fans down didn't work. I took both units to bits and just replaced the actual lcd screen from the new one into the old one and now it works perfectly. I'm not sure whether the 1M0 820 043 C unit was faulty or just incompatible. The screen is fairly easy to replace, the only tricky bit is getting a good contact on the ribbon cable IDC connector linking the main PCB to the screen PCB.
 
I did wonder about the different versions. Mine is a 2002 LCR210 and the control that I've just bought is a 'D' revision. As you say, can always switch over the screen as the main fault with mine is the segments of the LCD disappearing. The wife adjusts the temperature if she uses the car and then I have no idea what she's set it to!

When mine came it was in a shi*t state dirty and mould growing on it [:@] so i just removed the LCD screen and swapped it with my broken one, you dont need to fiddle with the ribbon the LCD just comes off by twisting the small tabs, only PITA is removing the very small hex screws, but worth it, all working again now, only wish i could find the LCD screen on its own and i would have a spare;)
 
Well the unit turned up from Poland yesterday, £66 delivered, from a 225 and it was a D revision. As it turns out, so was the one that I already had in the car. The new one was a little dirty, but not bad. A quick clean up and we've just fitted it and tested it fully OK. Bargain!

The question now is what to do with the old one. The screen is no use, but the rest could be useful to someone for spares, or could it?
 
Yeah, that's what I figured. I'm going to keep hold for a month or two; see whether this new one will present me with any problems or not, and once I'm 100% confident that it's all OK (I'm 90% sure at the moment) then I'd might as well let the old one go.

It's £65 + £14 P&P however. Considering I paid £6 P&P to get mine from Poland I think this guy is having a laugh
 
Has anyone tried complaining to Seat UK about the lcd screens :D. I`ve changed one on my LC & my wife`s Toledo has the same issue . Knowing Seat`s attitude it`s probably a waste of time though
 
LCDs fail. I don't know that there's anything that we can do, especially since my car is 7 years old. It's lasted pretty well, though obviously I'd have preferred longer

thats what I did in the end, i had already disconnected the ribbon cable though (not recommended)

There are no pics yet, but it has a £1 starting bid. May be worth someone looking in to, on the off chance that it's actually in good working order?

As far as I'm aware, I've not knocked it or anything. Any idea's? it's bugging me....
