I think mine are definately on the way out, ive just reached 56k aswell, seems a bit of a coincidence. Ive got the erange engine light and keep getting error code '17544 bank one too lean'. Apparently you can get bolt down ones, ive only heard of them, not ever seen them, I wasnt sure how they would bolt down either.
Do you know much about the ones gsf have for sale, theyre only 16.50 +vat each, so was thinking of just doing the whole lot and seeing if that fixes the problem.
Ken, be careful with this reader you were looking at, I got it, it reads codes fine and clears them well, but the connector is gash. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/U280-VW-AUDI-S...QQcmdZViewItem I pushed it on the other day, and believe me you have to really push it on and it broke my obd2 connector out of its fixing in the centre console! I can just about poke it with the end of my finger if i try real hard. Now I have to take every bloody thing apart to get it back in its position again.
Will I be able to reset the airbag light with one of these as well? As I unplugged the passenger airbag cable when pissing around with the audio cables (didn't realise this would pose a problem with key out of the car!) so need to reset it!
Thats the one ive got, the link should hav taken you to one the sam, but i copied it from another post and didnt test it, sorry.
Its not a bad reader and you can clear codes with it, but my connector was sh*te and broke the obd2 plug in my car, as i said above. If you get it, i recommend taking a stanley knife to the plastic on the connector around the pins, this way you wont have the problem of it fitting over the connector in the car. Also the instruction tell you to press the 'read' button, it doesnt have one. the button to press is the 'enter' button.
guess ill have to fork out for the vag ones then, anybody got ideas whether seat will still replace them for free on a 2001 car. ive read before that they extended the warranty on them because they were known to be gash.
Thanks tom, I'll probably pick one of those up later this week!
I didn't realise about VAG replacing the coils. I'd also be interested in this. Would be nice to know I've got 4 spanking coils in the car, and have the 2 I've just ordered on standby!
Ive just heard some bits and pieces around the site and from friends, no-one seems to know anything definate yet. Im hoping they will do it on warranty, Im not sure whether the problem im having is a coil on the blink or a dodgy maf, so if i can get the coils replaced and the problem persists its my maf, if the problem stops Bingo! Ill give the dealer a ring later this week, if it comes up a winner it might be worth fitting your knackered ones (if you still have them for any reason) and getting another nice new set! Ill keep you posted how I get on.
The warranty on coil packs was extended to 5 years, but unfortunately you're outside that tom. Could try for a goodwill gesture from SEAT ?
I replaced mine with one from Unipart that they assured me was OEM but just didn't come in a VAG box for £26. Engine ran fine but diagnostic light stayed on constantly with VAG COM saying cylinder 2 coil pack open circuit (seem to remember someone saying they had same problem with cheap one from GSF). Ended up getting a refund and fitting a genuine VAG one @ £30 (when they finally had some !). Check they give you a 06B 905 115 K or later. Think they're on 'R' now.
i believe you can only get the j prefix coded coilpacks changed, that was what i was lead to believe fron seat as i had three of mine go ,two when i was on holiday(thanks to kings lynnn seat by the way) one a week later .all were j coded
I had all mine let go within 1 month of each other By all accounts from reading previous threads it seems very common that when 1 goes, the rest will follow closely behind.
Obviously not in all cases though as some people have just lost the odd 1 now and again.
Well, one of mine failed a week ago. I've still got the failed one, and it's got the "J" suffix. That should be good enough grounds to bitch to a dealer shouldn't it?
