Coilpack problem?

I've had a faulty coilpack on my Ibiza previously and this was exactly the same, engine light on, very rough running, funny smell.

VAG-COM shows

3 Faults Found:
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
            P0300 - 35-00 - -
16688 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
            P0304 - 35-00 - -
16686 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
            P0302 - 35-00 - -
Readiness: 0000 0000

First question, does this look like more than one has failed (misfires of cyl 2 and 4)?


Secondly, where can I obtain a coil pack from that's not a SEAT dealer? I really need to get one on Monday, spoke to 2 SEAT dealers today and their parts deps are closed so they can't even tell me if they have any in stock!!

Forgot to add, is it really worth doing all 4 at once, is it likely the others will fail shortly after?

GSF or ECP should be able to get them, failing that talk to your local independent garage - they may be able to order parts only for you from their supplier

definitely mate get all 4 done at once,because when one goes the other's start going weeks after.

Spoke to Seat, they admitted to the 5yr warranty (only once I'd mentioned it obviously) and my car's 5yrs old AND 3 DAYS!!!!!!!


Even then they said the car had to be taken to their dealers, uh, that's a bit difficult as it's running on 2 cylinders!!!

It was recovered to my home yesterday and my breakdown cover won't move it again. I'm going to have to try and claim the money back under their 'good will' claim. I think my chances are somewhat slim.

They only had the 2 packs I need so I'm going to buy another 2 online.

The guy on the parts dep admitted it after I mentioned it.

I've cancelled the coils with them now and have ordered 4 from Awesome instead, will fit them myself.

I'm afraid I don't have much to go on except an address they gave me to write to, someone else maybe able to provide further details (might be worth a separate thread)
