That's a serious amount of money to pay for a 56 plate Mk2, are you sure it's a good idea? You're comfortably into facelift territory or even a Mk6 Golf on that budget. The low mileage isn't necessarily a good thing either as there is a cut off point where you have to wonder why it's so little. May still have had a hard life if all that was done round town.
Sorry to sound negative but from a trade point of view I wouldn't go for it, but each to there own
When you say it doesn't have an engine cover you are talking about the plastic covering sitting over the engine block it's self right? Engine covered weren't fitted to all models, my old pd140 never had one but my pd170 does.
The moulding that people are talking about is on the noise insulation on the bottom face of the bonnet it's self. Usually a black felt like material which has big blotches of mould if the scuttle pan has leaked.

Could you ask how much the fix usually costs when you are in there please. Think I will have to bite the bullet

Are you sitting down with an alcoholic drink at hand? Then I will begin.
The wife asked the question on how much the "fix" would cost had we not had it done under warranty and when she went back in to pick the car up they tallied up the cost on the work card.
There isn't any detail as to exactly what parts cost what but there are two parts listed and I assume the first is the bonnet liner at £49.90, then I guess it's the kit to fix the issue at £36.59, on top of that is the hours labour at £48, add the VAT into the game and the price is an eye watering.............£161.39
I'm really glad this got done under warranty!
No worries bud, that £90 test sounds like bull though.
I was told before they agreed to do it under warranty that if I paid for it they couldn't guarantee the work would be a 100% fix so if it continued to happen afterwards it would be tough.

I will be paying them to fix it not 'have a try' so It won't be tough as I will print all of the sales of goods act and consumer rights stuff I can find if it fails again and they try and fob me off. I'm not too worried about the bonnet lining ATM I just want to keep engine/itg dry.
Op sorry for taking over the thread- did you buy it?

Haha no problem, useful info from both u guys. Yes put a deposit down just waitin for them to do afew paint touch ups, change out the headlight and buff and polish it etc.
Mods list has already begun tho, first one is to change out the HU for a new sat nav unit and interior builds and have reverse camera and sensors fitted.
Thats Siemens PPD PD170 not Bosch PD140
