Condensation in headlights

I have condensation in both headlights. Been told this is a problem with Seat Ibiza's. Is there anything can be done to solve the problem that doesnt mean changing both lights? Anyone had similar problems. Its a Seat Ibiza Cupra TDi 2006.

Think most, if not all mk4s have this problem. I however have fixed it


Just take the caps of the back on your lights, lets air in, and the moisture goes after a while/day or 2. I have only taken the caps off because I can;t be bothered to sort my HID wires out mind...

Okay ill give that a go, havent had it long and suspect its because its been washed with a presure washer. Might be wrong. Cheers matey

Not sure if it is advised to take the covers off the lights, but i've had no issues so far lol.

I find a couple of silica gel packets works well as keeping the moisture at bay.

They would only recall a safety item, and the water doesnt effect the beam pattern (unless its seriously bad) so not likely.

Also its a plastic lens on the front of the light, so the light needs to be vented or the heat from the bulb can distort the lens. This sadly means a bit of moisture gets in the light, however this is made much worse by power washers etc. Every manufacturer I have worked for in the last 10 years had suffered, my MK4 Astra used to be terrible for it.

Drilling some small holes in the back cover means the air can circulate freely and you will have less problems!

Drill or take them off and the rubbish looking condensation goes. The black reflectors also seem to look a bit darker too.

I have just brought a Ibiza 1.4 sport. i did notice some condensation in the headlights and was quite concerned about it! But if this is all it takes to get rid then i guess its not that much of a problem!

I have done the same as Kidinspace although i celotaped some silican gel packs to the back of the cover stole the idea off ScottHmk4 only done it yesterday so far its still there but hopefully it will be gone within a week!

my drivers headlight used to do it really bad mate but never the passanger, when me and a mate fitted my hids and sidelights we found the rubber seal on the sidelight/indicator plastic cover wasn't fitted properly. Since re-fitting it its a million times better so might be worth trying all the seals bud

Well ive just drilled them both so fingers crossed! Bit cheesed off like coz one of the metal catchs that keep the side of the cover clipped down fell off into the depths of the engine bay !! Was well out of reach so all I could do is push it to the bottom with a long stick lol. Hope it doesnt do any damage!

I got so sick of doing things like that - get yourself one of those magnet pick up tools - looks like an extending pen but with a magnet on the end.

Best £2 i spent in a long time.

Got a bit of condensation in mine , will defo drill them when the snow's gone . Thanks every-one . As for the pics of drilling the covers , Oh if only I had the room you have lol .
