just an update on my lights guys, i seemed to have totally fixed the problem. if i have had the lights on and cold water gets on the front of the light, it will mist up slightly but then totally clear itself! one happy bunnie now!! :funk:

Nickibizacupra have you got a couple of pics of what you done. I just want to see what you've done with the breather hoses you mentioned in previous post before i attempt it.
I've still got covers off at the moment as my motor went for MOT on Thursday so i wanted to make sure the lights were clear.

Well, it’s because when the cars are assembled in Spain, the humid Spanish air gets trapped inside the light,

they are actually assembled in belgium, dealer obviously taking the pi55

thanks m8 was gonna say the same thing, the tube i used is a breather tube fitted to the mk5 golf front fog lights! oh and my lights are STILL totally clear! its amazing how much road gets lit up at night now lol

Dear Desperados,
Seat prepare repair kit for this problem.
I have information about they will change breather valve which is located on the bottom of the headlight.
Repair kit will be available in the begining of april.

mine dried out in about 2 hours and havent misted up since! if we all stood around and waited for this kit we wouldnt be botherd! thought bollox to it and did it myself! oh and im still waiting to hear back from seat.... about 7 weeks now lmao:lol:

Well had the first proper full on rain and spray (motorway) since doing this mod while driving to work today and guess what...

The lights are still clear! :funk:

I think I must be the only Mk4 owner who hasn't had misting headlights!
Maybe because I have different light units in ? Perhaps the Xenons are sealed better

I think mine were fine. At least I don't recall having misting problems anyway.

I had some misting in the Leon, but this is affecting the light output. I have tried sealing the units with vaseline around the rubbers seals, as it seem the only way moisture can get in. I can't see the design philosophy here, are the rubber seals supposed to seal or just stop them vibrating ? There must be some other way the moisture gets in, the cold air warm air theory doesn't hold water (sorry for the pun). I took a straw poll today and wandered through our works car park, the ONLY lenses of any car that were misted were all VAG cars? A TT, a visiting Belgian ! Ibiza and mine. This is the same design as the Mk2 Ibiza which didn't suffer, the Leon which was minor. And a raft of GTi's I have owned that also didn't suffer, why has it got so bad ? Before drilling I will attempt to get a Seat dealer to provide me with two spare covers, it's the least they can do. I will then be quite happy to mutilate them with a drill.
