Connecting Boost gauge Light to Ignition

Just got myself some Autogauges Smoked Boost/Oil Temp gauges and both come with red/black wire and also another wire for the ignition.

Is it necessary to wire the gauge to the ignition?

I pretty much know how to connect the boost gauge to the FPR or Top DV pipe but i dont quite know which wires i need to connect the Gauge lights to?

I'm assuming most have used the back of the light switch to the right of the steering wheel where you turn your headlights on etc?

I found ROB DONs install but thats on a Leon.

Any advice lads?
