Head unit dimmer wire

I installed a Kenwood CarPlay head unit and it's permanently in dark mode, which is more of a pain with Apple and Google Maps.

Kenwood have replied and said "It could be that in your installation, the dimmer control wire is permanently 12 volts (as if headlights are on)."

I think the dimmer wire is the orange wire on the ISO harness? Anyone know what I would wire that up to?

Or can I just cut it so it won't have any voltage?

(CarPlay has an option to force dark maps, but not light for some unknown reason so at least I could manually switch it to dark or light if it didn't think the headlights were on).

Duh! Turn out the dashboard light dimmer switch lowers the voltage on the head unit (suppose it makes sense now I think the original Aura unit was dimmable).
