Cordy Oil Temps

I have had my cordy for a few months now and was just curious as to what the oil temperature should be when the cars warmed up? Mine goes as high a 104 degrees on the 2.litre 16v, whereas on my old 8v GTi it used to hover around the 90 mark. Its had an oil change since i got it but thats made no difference, was just curious what normal oil temps should be?

My 1.6 sits at about 86-88 degrees.

90-96 C on my ABF Ibiza. Typically 92-94 in A/B flowing traffic. Stop-start in traffic might see 96 ish. Will see up to 106 in very hot weather on high motorway speeds or 98 - 102 C in traffic when weather is hotter.

Cheers for that guys, it hit 104 on the motorway last night but that was 2 hours at 'motorway speeds' its normally 96-98 around town. So it sounds like its about right.

Yeah that sounds about right TBH, it'll go over 100 if you're on the motorway doing 'motorway speeds' for any length of time.

mine sits about 90 on normal running - 100 on fast motorway driving and upto 130 on track and thats with an additional oil cooler. Turbo cars always run hotter though.

With all due respect, a 1.8 20vt (or any other engine) isnt a 2.0 16v and not relavant.

have seen mine go above 100 on a blat.

120-126 regularly on trackdays, ive never seen the leon above 94 regardless of driving.

if its sitting a lot lower (ie more than 5 degrees angle) its maybe time to get it seen to.

don't confuse your oil & water temps.

I'd expect 95-99C on normal driving (m-way) but on a proper run anything up to 130C

but we was not hanging about coming back with it

check your oil grade isn't too thick & sludgy if you're not getting it warm
