Which dealerships allow under 21s access to their cars ( I'm 19)

I know a lot of them only allow over 21's, but i need my car servicing etc and will still need to get to work etc.

My last car was an alfa mito and when i was 18 they gave me a brand new guiletta with 160 miles on!! Why do SEAT have such an issue?

Have you asked about them letting you use your own insurance?

I used to do that when I had a Vauxhall, they'll give you the car once you prove you've got insurance on it. Most insurance companies will do it for free and then fax a cover sheet over to you, or charge a small fee (£15 or so).

I asked at IMG Seat though, and they wouldn't even let me insure the car myself.

You don't have to get it serviced at a dealership to maintain the warranty, I had mine done at Volksmaster with genuine parts, and I'm sure they'd give you their courtesy car as long as you take your license and do the insurance over their phone in the office.

Yup I always sort it through my insurance because the garage insurance usually has an excess in the thousands ! Not worth the risk IMO

No dealership I have spoke to are willing to do it that way either, they just say you have to be over 21. When I asked IMG why I had to be 25 ( in their case), they replied saying ' it's an Ibiza, but its an FR' ....yeah and so what... I think they forgot I arrived in a car that was a lot more expensive and more than 3 x more powerful  Idiots.

Did Liverpool give you a car? I haven't asked them because I don't really want them any where near it

I want seat to service it because they get funny if you have problems with the DSG, plus they won't issue goodwill gestures if anything goes wrong out of warranty ( ages off yet but better safe than sorry ) If they service it then can't try and wriggle out of anything

All the while Alfa handed me the keys of a brand new top of the range car with 170hp, and told me to have fun. Lol

I always use my own insurance but now I'm 21 I am ok. Never had a problem with it.

But saying that I have only been with SEAT.

We have this problem a lot, you have to bare in mind that dealers unfortunately are not obliged to offer you a car out of courtesy, some places will charge you - normally the cost of the insurance admin fee, others will just refuse you the use.

You could hire a car? even from them which would probably carry a higher charge and different risks, works out around £40 a day for a standard mid sized motor.

Maybe it is just an age issue? Unfortunate as it may seem young drivers are stereotyped as reckless, risk taking hooligans on the road, you might be the best, safest driver in the world but statistics (which the dealer and their insurer abide by) say otherwise.
