The wife's 1.4s has had an airbag/seatbelt warning light lit for a while and I've only just gotten around to checking it last night and it has this error:

Code:
Control Module Part Number: 1C0 909 605 A
  Component and/or Version: 39 AIRBAG VW51 0A 0008
           Software Coding: 13113
            Work Shop Code: WSC 06401
1 Fault Found:
01221 - Crash Sensor Side Airbag: Driver Side (G179)
        37-00 - Faulty
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can anyone shed any light on exactly what this means and how to proceed? Her MOT is due in a few weeks too - is this going to be a problem?

Cheers guys

I'd just disable that airbag on vagcom

Would that remove the light too?
Even though 1 bag is disabled there is still a fault on one of the circuits/sensors or when disabled does it disregard the signals from those areas sensors?

The light flashes, then it's off.

I broke a wire on the day I was selling our old Mk3 Cupra and disabled the wheel airbag

I've actually not yet done it. Need to do it before the end of the month. Maybe tomorrow. Will let you know if you like? Do you have access to VAG-COM?

Yes have vag com i tried yellow connectors under seat and all seemed ok.Some people report bad connection with these.I parted them and connected back together cleared fault but it came back on.I have now ordered from ebay a second hand sensor which i believe is bolted to the floor under drivers seat. Will be fitting on saturday all being well.

I disabled the driver side airbag today and the airbag light was flashing (as expected) but then stayed on. I checked it and it said that the airbag was disabled in the log but it still said that the thing was faulty. So I disconnected the yellow connector under the drivers seat, cleared everything and restarted the car, and still a warning light. When I checked it I was now getting a message that the igniter was at fault, as well as intermittent resistance too low. The error about the driver side airbag was still there!

So, airbag disabled and as far as I can tell, physically disconnected, and the errors are still there!

I think I'm going to have to look at pulling the bulb, just in case, as the MOT is on Wednesday, and then I'll have to look at fixing it properly. How do I get to the bulb though please someone?

Smokey, did you fix your problem with a replacement?
