I know Awsomegti are very reasonable priced for retrofit on Leon but as i live in Hampshire to travel up to them would make it very expensive job in time and money is there anywhere in the south that does CC retrofit?

Been looking into this aswell, i wonder how easy the instructions are to follow, with a bit of time and a good guide then it shouldnt be too hard, then just a case of activating it with VAG COM

I read somewhere that that air bags have to be deactivated whilst fitting cruise, not sure if this is the case but i know lower part of dash has to be removed to get to wiring. i would rather pay someone to do it.

I've looked in to this in great detail and it is pretty straight forward to fit yourself. (not done it myself, as I live close to Awsome and will be getting it done there eventually!)

The only thing you'll need is someone to activate it via VAG COM. If you know someone with it then great! If not, then garages can charge you anything from £30 - £60!!!! So that's the only downside.

Just go on ebay and search for "leon cruise control" and you can get full kits on there for around £70, and have full instructions online too.

I'm sure if you buy the parts needed, any garage will do it for you. Doesn't seem particularly difficult, and would be surprised if cost you anymore than an hours worth of labour.

Cheers but prefer to get some one to do it thats had experience and know exactly what they doing in fitting it hence tidy job than giving it to somone with the instructions to follow as would just do it meslf. If i just to take it to an auto electrician to fit, id prob end up with dash rattles, screws missing etc and have problems with it working in future.

Wasn't such an easy fit on mine. Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad that it's on the car now as it's a new toy and selling point when the time comes, but it took 4 hours on mine.

The windscreen wipers and motor have to be removed in order to get to the wiring harness the other side of the bulk head, and they did not want to come apart after 4 3/4 years of staying put! The lower dashboard on the driver's side has to come out which is dead easy. I guess it's easy when you've done this sort of thing before, not if you haven't.

The instructions are ace. Teeside VW supplied the parts (via eBay). My local ICE installer who's a good friend of mine did a majority of the installation. Once activated in VAG-COM (which takes less than 3 minutes!), you're up and away.

So to anyone who doesn't mind taking the dashboard apart and fitting extra wires into harnesses, go for it yourself. The instructions are complete with exploded diagrams, concise and clear. If you're not used to this sort of thing, my advice would be get some help in.

They said specialist ;) :cartman:

So what the fooks a qualified Main SEAT dealer mechanic then!!!
Also Audi and Volkswagon said same as its a retrofit so never fitted it from scratch!

Anyways, what i was asking for was someone like Awsome GTI only in the North East, simples question but obviously not!

just a general mechanic.

A bit like the "Audi Master Technicians"

no thanks, your far better off taking the car to an independent VAG Specialist, rather than a main Dealer.

There is a difference, one will do a top job first time then take your money, the other will take your cash and "hope to solve the problem"

:D
