Cruise Control

Took my Altea in for its 10,000 mile service last week and had the Cruise Control stalk replaced.
I had two instances of the cruise control failing to engage.

I also had the windscreen replaced as it was showing the delamination symptoms described in a different thread.

Both the above jobs were carried out without any question

I dont seem to have any problems at all with the brakes in fact I do think that they are only now fully bedded in and working efficiently -- so pad or disc wear doesnt seem too bad.

Talking of brake wear... I have now got break judder ... hmmm. Comments please.

Cruise control is now fine since the stalk was replaced. I got the mould under the bonnet, about three inches of that and traces of the laminated glass issue ie about two inches by 1mm of white markings on the edge.

the windscreen on mine is the same, just waiting at present for the dealer to ring to confirm my new rear alloys have arrived (current ones have peeled), and it also needs the fly wheel re-call and is having the mirror kist fitted to cut windnoise...

Had brake fad for first time ever yest, but misses recons it was more to do with the decrease in speed I was demanding from the car and the down hill grdient we were on...

I would't swear on a Bible but it sounds like one of your brake discs is warped - I had that trouble with a Pug 309

The rear discs on mine need replacing due to the lip that has been created around the perimeter. I've not managed to warp anything yet. Tell yours does sound like warping of a disc, though I think worn dampers can do that too.

Got my stalk replaced today. Haven't done the screen though. Service manager needs more convincing so I will take it back after a heavy rain or just after being washed when the cloudiness is worst.

On the brake discs issue, a lip is normal and should not necessitate a change. The lip is caused by both wear and corrosion (usually the biggest factor). Unless changing to non-OE pads which may have a slightly bigger surface, the lip should not be a concern (other than cosmetically) provided that the service thickness of the disc and run-out is within permitted limits.

Apparently the dealer thought the lip on my disc meant that it was worn excessively, I think. His idea , not mine.
TBH if they are paying for it, I don't mind.

A warped disc was mentioned on the phone but they seemed to think that this wasn't warranty... we'll see. Not as if I apply the brakes hard... I don't.
