Hi folks.

Just wondering how many miles you are all getting out a full tank of fuel from your Cupra?

I just got mine on wednesday so still waiting to see what the average is I am going to get....

300-350miles on a tank (no venting- seems to be all the rage on SCN) 80-90% city driving. Trip says average mpg is 34mpg. Though somehow ive done 270miles and have the block under half a tank so far and ive been thrashing it around the country roads as I took it over to the coast yesterday via B roads.

My 2010 Fiesta ZS was getting 270-300miles before the petrol light was comming on. so its all good for me.

When you fill tha tank and thepump clicks you cant really fill it much more. This is because its expansion space in the tank for the petrol. But quite a few guys on here "vent" the tank, by pressing a little button just inside the filler cap with the pterol nozzle that releases some of the air allowing you to get more petrol into the car. as much as 55ltrs I think. Make a difference stop you from filling up as much a guess.

I avg about 30MPG with steady driving in the city. I managed over 400 miles on a tank with straight motor way driving when I went to Germany. Trust me I was not hanging about either so avg 80MP/H and then 130 mp/h in Germany so consumption was really good and I do VENT hehehehehehe

In the owners manual (page 173) it tells you not to fill past once the nozzle has clicked as it will fill the expansion chamber and fuel may leak out if ambient conditions are warm.

Think I will just leave this button.

So let me get this right. There is a little button just inside the filler cap and once you have the nozzle inside whilst your filling up push the button forward to release air. Do you hear anything when you vent it then?

I didnt notice it until I saw it on another thread, Il try find a link to it for you, you push the nozzle to the right and you will hear the air release, I dont think doing it a little bit will cause fuel to overleak though.

I get about 40 MPG in mixed driving (7 litres /100km). I have started to vent the tank when filling up so I get close to 500 miles per tank .

I can stretch to 500 miles on a tank, but even with a heavy foot it's easy to hit 400 miles

I usually get around 280 miles until the light comes on, lots of town driving. Says I am averaging 31mpg, however on motorway runs between 65/75 I get around 45mpg,

My last car which was a 59 plate 1.2 corsa I got 350 miles to a tank taking it easy, so rather impressed.

To be honest mate that was one of the appeals of the car to me and im sure to other people. All a very good mix of performance and economy

Why can't I get more than 280 miles on a full tank down to the last tiny bar, with very average driving with the VERY occasional hard push....?

I've always thought this car drinks fuel very quickly, and bought the car because I thought it would be a good mix of fun and econ.... :(

Try & drive it for a tank just in D, and also trying 'not' to engage the engine amplifier thing.
