No, I mean the fake exhaust noise. It comes in when you use the pedal a bit too much, or rev it etc.

Try not using more than about 25% throttle.

You know the exhaust / engine sound you can hear when driving along? That's the engine amplifier - all fake.

Why can't I get more than 280 miles on a full tank down to the last tiny bar, with very average driving with the VERY occasional hard push....?

I've always thought this car drinks fuel very quickly, and bought the car because I thought it would be a good mix of fun and econ.... :(

To be honest with u mate I bought it for the same reason. I picked up the car on wednesday and it had just over half a tank. I took it for a spin and pretty much booted a lot of the time so I couldn't really gauge how much I was using. Then when i got back I checked the oil and there was bugger all showing on the dip stick. I was fuming and had to fill up with oil, so the next day the garage put 35 quid worth of fuel in my tank for me which took it too 1 bar from the top. I made it to saturday and I had to put in another 50 quid. Guessing I probably didn't hit the 300 mile mark but this week for sure is going to give me a true reading as I will be doing my usual routine. Hopefully its not too bad or the wife not going to be happy as I told her it would be quite good on fuel lol. She's used to the Golf GT TDI 150 we had b4 tho. It was never going to be as good as the Golf but at the same time I didn't think the Cupra would be so thirsty......

55 quid a tank for 330-350 miles in the beeza is awesome. Don't know what you're complaining about. LCR is 80 quid for 280 miles, go figure :)

Just filled up this lunch time, went past a few clicks on the pump and somehow managed to get £70 worth of fuel in!!! ....51 litres!!! This tank has 45 litre capacity and a reserve of 7, but the tank still had one bar left in it!? What's up with that!?

Anyway, a week of 25% throttle and no S mode is ahead, If I don't get at least 330-350 miles I will be taking a trip to the dealer to ask what's going on.

Wish me luck!

Its not fake its just clever chaneling of the engine vibrations, Lots of cars have it and have done for ages.

Usually? Anything between 40-45mpg on a motorway journey. Tend to get at least 400miles out of the tank unless I do a lot of city driving in a particular week.

But, well, on a pure eco-drive:

If I recall SEAT claim an extra-urban MPG of 53.3 so that's not too far off :D

Though as you can see - it takes the fun out of driving a bit when lorries occasionally overtake you :(

That as well as a physical 'subwoofer' type device. Given you can unplug it & it stops working, I'll settle with my understanding.

I expected town driving to be a little better. I just get 29-30mpg if I drive it like a total bitch. When you compare that to my mums Edition30 she was getting 27mpg around the town and hers is a 2.0ltr turbo.....

Yes, that's what I believe it is exactly.

Not an amplifier, a stand alone speaker 'playing' a sound (is what I was told by SEAT)

Just read this in a Pistonheads article about the Leon Cupra R which also uses the amplifier. Thought you might be interested.

"This system does not play engine noise, etc, but rather gives the actual engine noise a depth and tone that cannot be achieved mechanically without affecting vehicle emissions and noise constraints".

Yeah, it's strange how there is conflicting information

It does sound less 'real' than the Cupra/Cupra R sound though

Let's keep this on the down low...maybe delete this thread? Wouldn't want any of my mates finding out about this!!
