Can you not use a straight pressure test and just listen for the air escaping ? - As a matter of interest I had a leak in the seal around the IAT sensor and one of the vacuum lines under the inlet manifold (going way back)

Something I’d love to do but don’t even have a compressor, closest thing I have is a bicycle track pump which admittedly goes to like 140psi

I purchased a basic pressure tester off of ebay and a car tyre inflator from amazon. Seems to work well enough.
You only need 15psi Connor ..........140 might give you eleventymillion horsepower for about 1/3rd of a second though

So the timing belt is starting to make me itch, only cos I know it’s due. AMD will do it all inc pump pulleys and tensioner for £369 fitted. I hate paying someone to do stuff like this but I don’t trust myself.

AMD have done mine 3 times now - so far no issues. Sometimes its best to bite the bullet and just accept that there are some things you cannot do....

Well.... got home an hour early so decided to do my forge TIP... what a pain in the ass that was. Fml it also sits in a slightly different angle to stock, is this normal?

I plan on running a vac line from the lower insert on the tip (grey covered pipe) to its source so I can ditch them buzzin metal vac lines too they seem to get in the way.


Also confession. My TIP to turbo jubilee clip broke and I got angry and threw it in the bushes... I forgot what size it was can anyone help? I don’t wanna take it off again.

The aftermarket units do sit a little different and most will need a little trim (read adjustment). I have a BAM 225 so not sure on how vac lines run on the AUQ.

From memory the jubilee clip is around the 50-70mm size.

Yeah buddy 60mm stick in my head for some reason, I got it second hand so I assume it was already trimmed etc,

On the right hand side of the engine there is four thin metal pipes all moulded into one. They piss me off lol

It’s cool got a pack for £2. Winner. Noticed oil seeping out what appears to be The top left corner of the rocker (TIP side) but I was looking at doing a gasket anyway.

So did some work today. PVC simplify, removed the skanky metal vac pipes, replaced some more perished hoses, replaced a cracked fog.


Of the back of it is the hockey puck meant to be a one way valve? Mine flows both ways . Next to mount my catch can....

Also need to replace a rocker gasket by the looks of this

Also for those of you who know a bit... when removed the n249 plumbing I noticed there was a one way valve that sat inlet manifold side of the valves. Should I refits this? Guessing it’s there to prevent airflow going the wrong way in the vac lines
