• Hey Guest💡👉 We have recently launched our new Dealer Directory and review service Find out more now
So I've just phone seat dealer. They have no clue about a 290 at all. So I was more in the know than them. I also called to upgrade the stereo and they tell me I can't as its too far along now. So I think I'm going to cancel the order and re do this.

He's coming back to me. As if and when he does and I'll let you know regarding dates and build weeks in the UK.

Right spoken to seat with a crystal clear answer.

The new Leon 290 will come with a £500 premium over the current Cupra model.

The exhaust will now be a different system and with a different tone. This revised system will also be 5kg lighter than the pre existing one. In addition the software will be different.

Fulllink will now also be included rather than a option extra.

Hopefully clears a few questions up.

Seat currently have near on 400 orders out standing so haven't wanted to shout about the new revision. Although now it's been leaked they will no doubt make something more obvious.

You cannot currently order the 290 as no build codes have been realised but are expected within the next two week. Your vehicles will not automatically be updated to the 290 spec as someone previously speculated.

Subsequently I have cancelled my order. And his will be re-ordered as soon as it becomes available.

I guess at £500 for a better exhaust and remap is fairly cheap

I ordered my 280 a week ago (on a lease deal), paid a small deposit (which I get back on delivery of the car) but am yet to get confirmation on a build date - if I wanted to cancel the order, would I lose the deposit? Or do you think it could be carried over to when I order a 290?

I'm not sure who you've ordered with or the terms. My deposit is just carried over anyway but I'm not leasing my new Leon. So not a help sorry

Not really they are just going to fit the Golf R system with twin exits rather than quads, Golf R system only has 2 boxes where as the Cupra 280/Golf GTI system has 3.

1. Be interesting to get hold of an ECU file from the 290, compare it to a stock 280 aka 300 file. I'm away this weekend with SEAT Sport, will ask them.

2. Its not been "leaked" SEAT ES released it as world news, SEAT UK then released it as UK news.

Better exhaust that an OEM one yep. I havent got OEM.

But yeh full link is something I need in my life, Phones got Android 6.0 preview on it.

That's exactly why I've cancelled mine. I thought if I'm going to use full link I guarantee I'll want a better screen in car. But was too far along the line to change it. So cancelled the car and re ordered. But they're waiting until 290 build codes are released.

its not so easy to arrange, a lot of people say they will then pull out, I have organised a lot of events in the past for other forums and its hard.

Is this directly with a UK dealer? Just interested to know how this works, if you can't officially buy one yet due to no build codes?

When the codes are released (two weeks aprox) my new order will be placed for the 290 revision

Sorry for the inquisition but I am interested in doing something similar to you :) So you went into a dealer and made a request to change your order and they said they would order the car when it became available? Or are you saying you will go to the dealer and place the order in two weeks when it becomes available? If the former did you take advantage of the 0% finance offer or do you know if it was possible to combine it with a 290? Does it seem the same discounts are available on the 290 than the 280?
