yeah some thing doesn't sound right really mate, the standard FR brakes if really prodded for an emergency stop they "hurt" i know there completely different brakes but you model is suppose to stop a quicker car:confused:
as for the slight skid i think it's normal to get a momentary skid with ABS as i did on my car, it depends how fast you stopping from. at 30 with the grip in the tyres when dry the ABS shouldn't need to kick in but slam on the brakes at 60 it'll be a different mater:D,

could be, do you know anyone else who has a derv cupra that'll let you have a go in, or maybe someone on here who has one who's maybe willing to meet you somewhere so you can compare and really see if it is fine or not, that way you can ring SEAT UK and have all you facts together and kick some ar*e and get you dealer to sort it once and for all and compensate for your wasted time.

If it was the servo or vacuum pump.. to find out;
1. with engine stopped and ignition off and key out of ignition .. pump the brakes about 10 times. This will exhaust the vacuum that is used to drive the servo.
2. Then keep pedal on the brake with moderate pressure (as you would use around town) and start the engine. The pedal should now feel as if it is sinking as the servo operates. If it does not change in feel you have an issue with vacuum generation or piping to servo or the servo.

Not sure how vacuum is generated on these cars .. probably a diaphragm pump somewhere on the engine which feeds a reservoir tucked up under a wing somewhere. Some cars are getting electric vacuum pumps .. hence the reason for pumping with ignition off.

Presume you have shinny brake discs .. and correct tyre pressures all the way around?

And I have done a few track days .. but the hardest trial I have found for brakes is driving hard down a good long +3 mile winding hill ... I know you mostly don't have them but extremities of UK are lucky that way. Track days just don't have the potential energy of the car to stop as well.. think of it as making your car twice as heavy on a track day and you get the idea.

I accept what you say about driving down hill, but if the AP brakes can take repeated braking from a ton to 30 all day (like at Snetterton), then I am sure there must be a problem with the brakes. Ive never seen brakes smoking after going down a hill albeit 3 miles long.

Will be interesting to see how it goes at the garage.
