I leave Bill (Badger 5) explain the lot to you becaue I would just way the same as him!

I'm running same bodies as Badger 5 does Jenvy Direct-to-Head throttle bodies. You will need a ported & polished head, engine managment (DTA, etc...) cam's (I've 278 Kent Cams), manifold, exhuast system and to be honest the price of bodies and if you want BIG power you would be better off going for a 20vT conversion if you can over there!

1st question.... what's you budget?

One other thing to add since the flywheel on the ABF is so blood heavy it'll be worth having it lighten & balanced!

Cuz best N/A engines are the ones that Honda built. K20 is one of the most succusful one.

Don't mean to nit pick but I think you'll find the B16a is the most successful as it has been built in greater numbers since it's inception as it's been in countless Honda cars. although not as advanced as the 20 it's BHP per litre is still the best for a "run of the mill" mass production engine first produced in 1988 if my memory serves me correctly.

Go for for the ITB's not enough people have (I hugely wish I had) and take the easy route of 20vt.
Ask F2Stu or Dinky for a recording of their car accelerating under load and you'll be sold.....the sound is awesome.

Think you looking at £2500 for dth throttle bodies, all the sensors, dta management, injectors & loom! Not forgetting you need a ported & polished head, cams, manifold & exhaust system so easily touching £3000-£3500 for parts and that's our prices which the £ is slightly stronger than the euro... Not by much lol

I saw the itb prices were about 580£. Why are the prices you shared are too expensive?

What was that for? Just for the throttle bodies part??? The DTA management is not far off that price alone! Badger 5 will break down the prices for you! Cams you looking at £300 to £500 head about £500 exhaust and manifold between £500 to £1k.

I know fella! Been there!

I only need itb and cams. Also if there is parts needed (like some sensors).
Is dta management ecu program?

You have a head sorted?? Injectors will be needed, need to change from the dizzy cap to a coil pack... Ford ones are most commonly used! And then someone to map the ecu. Badger 5's price will be spot on to give you an idea of parts cost alone.

Yeah he knows everything about this car, i know :)
But some things are much cheaper in Turkey, like exhaust system. I paid 150 euros for a straight pipe (60mm) and a muffler. And it is possible to find headers for 200 - 300 euros.
The main thing i want to learn from Dave is, which parts i "must" change to mount itb and cams. And then i'll take the prices from Badger 5 and also other stores.
I need to learn many things because no one did something like this to an ABF engine before in Turkey. I don't have someone to ask about modifiying this engine.

Be honest mate I just got a tuning company to do it.... rather have it done right and I haven't got a garage or the time to have done it all myself!

The DTH Bodies should be a straight bolt on, the throttle mechanism will need some fabracation and I've seen a few different ways to go about it! If you copy the design on mine you will need a stonger spring on the butterflies in the centre of the throttle bodies!

Look on my project dairy there are loads of photos of the engine bay and how it's still up! You will also need to get rid of the dizzy cap so a plate would need to be made up to block that off to!

Honestly Badger 5's prices and kit basically includes everything you need!

1.8T MK2 Conversion
Go for for the ITB's not enough people have (I hugely wish I had) and take the easy route of 20vt

Wouldnt call it the easy way out...
Compared to ITBS, its not really any more / less work.
Its more the logical choice... standard 1.8T is more powerfull (depending on engine), reliable, efficient etc and the tuning potential afterwards is far far greater.
Obviously people have their preferences as to how they wish to go about tuning their car, as seen in this thread...

Out of everyone on the site how many paople have actually done the 1.8T conversion into a mk2? Gets on my boobs when people refer to it as the 'common thing to do' and 'the easy thing to do' Everyone talks about doing it but very few act

rant finished ta x

I have sth. to ask Dave :)
At the homepage of Badger 5 there is a kit at the bottom which includes everything. (ITB, ECU, injectors, etc)// The kit at the bottom http://www.badger-5.com/2001/throttlebodiesdth.html //. But i can't see it's price there. I mailed them but they still haven't answered my questions.
Also there is one more thing to ask. Which headers is best after these modifications?
