Does anyone know if the Cupra R engine will fit straight into my Leon 1.6s? cheers
I'm going out on a limb here, but i'm guessing that your not going to fit it yourself? if you were i'd expect you to know the answer as you would have done extensive research, or at least viewed both engines to see if the engine mounts were in the same place?
So, off the back of my guess, i'm going conceed that you know about the gearbox differences, the suspension differences, the brake differences, and of course the insurance differences (to name but a few).
But if you can afford all that, then leaving the car in a garage with labour rates of £50 per hour won't be much of a put off.
Hope it all goes well for you.

Why would you want to do that mate ?
You will find it hard to sell when you have finished with it also.

Save for a LCR rather then spend the money with a transplant. It's not that easy putting a LCR lump in a 1.6 lol

Sell the 1.6 and buy a LCR or LC or a 20VT!
Dont bother with the hassle mate, been down the engine swap route before,
speak to anyone whose done it and they'll tell you to stay clear!

I cant wait for the responses to this now!.... Power you would have, your brakes wont stop you in time... crash...effectively no insurance. Fraud charges etc etc..

Buy a turbo diesel mate. Cheap to insure, tax run and will have more power your loooking for.

We understand but I don't think you do. LCR engine needs a new gearbox to match, new brakes all round and new suspension to make the car handle and stop. That is a sizeable bill unless you aim to do it all yourself?

What makes you think the insurance will not hike up your premium when you tell them you have placed a turbo charged engine under the hood?

I would expect the insurance to be a ot more for a 1.6 Leon with an LCR engine than an LCR.

Most insurance companies hate modified cars. I used to pay more to insure my Zetec-S with aftermarket exhaust system, induction kit, non standard wheels, and sports suspension than my standard LCR...

If you are planning on insuring your Leon as a 1.6 even though you have an LCR lump then you're very, very silly!

Oooo nice comments. You asked a question so people will generally comment or put their point across. By the way you obviously show a lack of intelligence and intelect as by transplanting a LCR 225bhp Engine into a 1.6 you will ultimately invalidate your insurance unless declared.

Good day to you.

It would also probably cost him more to fit the engine than to buy an LCR!

Unfortunately some people live in a dream world!
