Managed to squeeze in some time after work having a fiddle and going for a spin round the bypass. Essential journey to fill her up!
Some observations:
Road noise — seems louder than the Golf R I've just returned. I put this down to the 245 section tyres compared to the 225's on the standard 18“ rims the R was wearing.
Handling - Seems more planted and has less roll, even in Comfort. I put this down to a couple of things: longer wheelbase, seats and their position. I can't quite believe how low they can go lol, it's ridiculous, give it a try! The Golf was so high in comparison. The seats themselves really fit snugly. You really need feel that you are 'in' the car not 'on' it.
Infotainment: total faff, but have mastered some of it already. Got to sort the wireless Android Auto, appears I have the latest hardware, the software was also updating itself.. . Not sure if it completed when I stepped out. Digital dash doesn't bring up the readout options I'd like and have used before, but I'm sure I'll get over that.
Exhaust/engine noise — exhaust note is VERY quiet, even in Cupra mode. This is compared with a 2019 R, even though this had been damped down with new regs. I do recall the Golf exhaust note getting louder once it had a few miles under its belt.
Overall very happy though, especially as all my rubber floor mats fit. Even the rubber boot liner doesn't look too bad, couple of inches short is all.
