I would hope not - the seat isn't designed for vertical load (meaning it could squash in a crash)
That and the fact it would be a pain in the arse getting in and out!

Could that not happen anyway, why would harness be any different than the standard seatbelt ina crash?

race harness won't touch the seat in teh same place - it will produce vertical load though - and a std belt won't....
seen it happen before - a nice V shaped dent in your back
