Hooray I got it back on (without superglue or any other adhesive). Now it's never coming off again!

One of mine came off a few weeks ago so I wacked it back on with my palm......nearly broke my hand but touch wood it's still on, I've heard they're a nightmare

and this is the issue many experience.
You can bang it as hard as you like, but often all that happens is the skirt flexes as you push the underside of the cover upwards which means that the cover cannot click 'into' the skirt and simply pushes against the under side of the sill.
Dirt etc in the sill and on the cover can aggrivate the issue.

Try putting two fingers (or something else) between sill and skirt to hold the skirt away from the sill as you push the cover up with the palm. - usually clicks in with very little effort.

I used a rubber hammer and whacked it hard , but very carefully

mine aint off but prob was before i bought it and looks like it aint been put back tidy as it bulges out with a gap,

didnt want to take off as heard they were night meres
