Hi there. I just wondered if anybody has any tips on performance modifications for my 55 plate cupra R.

Im considering the Revo Stage 1 but i would like to know if it makes a lot of difference. Also what other mods are out there?

Thanks. :)

in this instance the search button is your best friend. even if you read some of the posts on the first page of the mk1 forum you will find threads re. various mods you can do. find some that sound interesting then search for more info on them.

in short, revo (or any other remap for that matter) will make a very noticeable performance to the power of your car and is the biggest bang for your buck you can get.

here we go again, i've lost count of explaining to people how red is the fastest!! wen will you learn.

welcome m8 ;)

Could you possibly give me the Ahem website. Also what makes them better than Revo.

Thanks. :)

Right after some confusion I think if i get a remap it will be with one of these 3.

Revo, Jabbasport or APR. All price are around the same price i think.

Can anyone recommend one more than the others??

i think you will find that everyone will recommend the one that they have. all three are established and experienced and i doubt you will find many people that have much experience of more than just one of them.

Could try the revo trial software for a couple of hours.

Other than that you're relying on hearsay - talk to each company/garage, ask them about what they offer and aftersales (can you come back etc. etc.) - you could also ask facts and figures although that's only half the picture - you need to consider driveability too.

You'll find a decent garage will talk your ear off with how genuine and keen they are, and will really know their stuff.

I've had APR done, very happy with the results btw

Well I won't enter the remap discussion and the usual "my **** is bigger than yours" debate with all the "Experts"......

After a remap consider the following

Cheap Mod's;-
Forge Short Shifter to reduce throw on gear changes
Dog Bone engine mounts, personally I'd try and source a new EIP unit rather than just the bushes (around £80 for the part)

In Time;-
Change your OEM pads when they wear out for Ferrodo DS2500's cheaper than the std pads from your dealer and far better
Change the std Pireli tyres when they wear out for Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 or Toyo T1-R etc

Then when you have the money;-
Forge dump valve (split-R if your want the sound or 007p to replace existing) this is a preventative measure cos the OEM Bosch unit is cr@p
Suspension upgrades are very worthwhile investigate Koni FSD dampers, Eibach loweing springs, Neuspeed anti-roll bars and an Audi S3 strut brace.

Avoid (just my opinion);-
Induction kits unless you just want extra induction sound, less money in your wallet and no extra power
Exhausts unless you are going for over 300bhp + new turbo etc
Intercooler upgrade until you are going to a stage 2 remap
