I'm in same boat .. done one alloy on front already (Cupra tdi). Answer is buy and FR and chip it, maybe add the Cupra intake first.. as long as you do not lean on the brakes too much it will be fine and pretty much same.. even get buttons on the steering wheel and cruise control as an option to compenstate! I would have done this but got tempted by even more power and needed value to keep company car lot happy! You could run a few less psi in the tyres.. but monitor tyre wear patterns (factory alignment makes them stink anyway!).
The rest has been discussed, cannot change alloy without brakes, cannot change ratio without messing with gearing/insurance, get a soft sidewall is one answer.
