hi all

i wanted a new gearknob on my 06 plate ibiza, and obviously i asked dave for some prices.
he came back with prices around 50 to 60 quid for a nice one and i thought it was a bit steep.
i then saw one in clearance for 25 quid but by the time i asked for one, they had all gone.

i got bored of shopping around for one, so i decided to design one myself, and then get someone at work to make it on a lathe for me.

Pictures to follow once i ask one of the admin to allow me to upload, and then figure out how to upload.

yeah they are on photobucket now.
i dont want to get my 15 posts up by just posting crap otherwise i reckon i will come across as a moron, and i haven't found anything i can make a worthwhile comment on yet.
hopefully admin will make an exception, otherwise it might be a while till i do my 15 posts

Thats pretty damn unique and cool. Kinda like those rally car shifter. Is it nice to use?

Are you going to get the top etched with 123456R?

cheers
yeah it feels quite comfortable to use and yeah i got the idea off a rally car i saw on top gear, but in the mornings at the moment it is so f'ing cold!

not going to get it etched was going for the shiny plain look

i hope you put some laquer on it or its going to go dull very fast, infact i find it hard to believe you didnt get a better shine from polishing ally.

no i didnt lacquer it and yes i know it will dull but i dont have a suitable place to lacquer it.
i dont think it was very high grade aluminium but the buffing wheels ive got are crap so i wasnt ecstatic about the finish. i am looking at getting it chrome plated, or will polish it again and then lacquer, but time at the moment is quite hard to come by.

You married lol A ring with scratch that up nicely, I had a stainless gear knob once, I ruined it wearing a ring! Very impressive you made that yourself, bit tall for my liking but other than that excellent!

thanks, and no im not married im only 19 - dont think im quite ready yet!
