decat and centre silencer info

hi there, had my 180bhp cupra 5months now and am loving it.
altho i was wondering would i b doing any damage to it performance wise if i was to put in a bolt in decat pipe and also remove the centre silencer?
Iv tried searching without my luck. thanks for any help.

as i understand it, if you decat then you will cause engine management problems because your emissions will be too high. the ECU knows this because there are two lamda sensors one before and one after the cat.

I think some people have successfully decatted by having the second lamda sensor mapped out. im sure someone with more knowledge on the subject will be along shortly to confirm or deny.

thanks for that. would be nice if someone could confirm or deny that but hopefully if i do get any problems my workplace should hopefully be able to sort it out.:)

you can try a decat with a lamda probe spacer with is what i have tired it works pretty well but every now and then it throws up the fault code again.turn it out and off you go again.there is a few other forums that have talked about a spacer or MIL light eliminator,

how would i turn it out? If its done using the vag-com then that would be tough for me as i dont own one.:cry:

You cant turn it off, it can be either tricked with the spacers or mapped out in conjunction with a remap.

i would have it mapped out but i havent got the money for a re-map at the moment, im gettin the other parts done by 1of the mechanics where i work so its only costin me a 24pack of beers:clap:
would it be easy enough for him to put the spacer in then?
