have a pd130 and cant decide to decat it or not, was thinking to just smash out the internals off the cat, only want a bit more turbo noise/flutter :)
also will it bring any lights up on the dash as i dont think the tdis have sensors in the exhaust system, correct me if im wrong?

If you do it the pikey way then your also destroying a good cat.
Unsure if you'll get turbo/flutter noise with that as its still the smaller bore exhaust aswell and then youve still a silencer after that.
Wont through up any lights on the dash

yeh i might just get a pipe welded in and weigh in the cat :)

that good at least, last car i decatted put the engine managment light on
 
I had mine chopped out, made my exhaust noise more sporty which I love.
BTW mines a pd130 and I also have the SEAT Sport Exhaust.
Worth it power wise too.
I only get a "woo" noise when I let off power at 2.2K RPM but that's it, whistles like a lorry :p
If you want Flutter you need a big air filter and a FMIC.

i have a miltek straight through on my pd130, just with custom muffler. sounds great along with panel filter you get a really nice deep roar when above 2.5k. i have also seen increase in mpg but not sure if this is just because you have increased air flow or what!? wel worth the money in my eyes and puts a smile on my face everytime :)

Yeah Decat does improve MPG unless your using the POWERRR
 
haha, its very tempting. but with all my money going towards and LCR brake upgrade, i cannot afford to!

if i were you mate, i would get either a aftermarket straight pipe or weld a pipe in yourself, that way you can either weigh in the cat of keep it and put t back on when you come to sell it. sell your decat and the price for the smile on your face will have cost you half as much!
 
Dont want to be an old fart here but they are changing the MOT regs this year and the way i see it if your car was fitted with a cat then it needs to be there to pass :(

I would advise to hang on and see how others get on with their decats this year.
 
as said before my fr tdi has the full miltek system without the cat.
As mines an 08 it comes under the new lower limit of 1.5 and mine passed at 1.15 and wasnt fully hot.

Usually the smoke test isnt a problem, shouldnt really be unless theres a major problem as a diesel engine being revved isnt under load or boost so shouldnt really smoke heavily.
The problem lies with the new 2012 regulations that are currently an advisory but will be a fail after 31st March. Theres a few things but one of the sections does say that cars fitted with a cat from the factory should have one present. Unsure how this will affect, only a case of waiting and seeing the outcome. Will probably depend on the mot tester aswell

Like you say, just have to wait and see how it goes with the new regulations. It is only a visual though and no changes to the test, just a case of if it left the factory with one then it should be there regardless of the smoke test / emmissions on a petrol

Mines due a test on the 4th of April so I'll be sure to have it in before the end of march to avoid when the changes come into play as failures :) decat and HID's is my problem. Also getting stricter on certain other parts aswell

I was thinking about a HID change aswell! You can't seem to get away with anything for long can you!.. I may start having a play round with some exhausts at work throw a few ideas together and see what I can come up with. Maybe even fiddle with the fueling or maps just to get trough the test? Ideas??
not sure about a way around HIDs though, tinted film?? maybe have to go for Cupra xenon kit if that's possible? Only had this car 5weeks so unsure on quite a lot of stuff yet!.

yeh i think il just get a spare decat pipe made up or just buy one when i have the extra cash cause of all this m.o.t. carry on, then il have a look for an fr back box, i like the twin tips poking out :)
