Im going to be taking mine off the car i think, as i dont trust myself to drill a straight hole! haha
Not sure there is enough room to put the bolt in if left in place, as the head of the bolt goes under.
yeah i did think that after looking at my mates LCR... the area where the bolt would slide under has LOADS of scratches where the bloke must have brute forced it under
I had another look last night for him (thank god for garages) and it seems fine, i did the bolt back up for him as it seemed a bit loose... finger tight and then a tiny bit more. thatll be ok right? he wasnt sure and wanted to go bruce lee on it with a spanner..

Exactly what i said... but i said id ask a guru... and here you are
I did this yesterday, modified both parts as mentioned 22mm & 11mm, used the original and used a press to put them back in a welded up the old hole. Jobs a Goodun!! feels spot on definatly a worthwhile mod.

FOOOOOKIN HELL! What a difference,
Heres my experience....
So undo the clip on top of the OEM pin, lift the linkage off, Move it to the right and it will naturally fit firmly against the original pin, ease it over about another mm, Draw / score a circle from within the hole in the linkage, move the linkage back out the way to the LEFT side of the OEM pin, Drill the hole, clean area down, slide the sleeve, into the linkage, washer and bolt through that - position linkage over hole and feed bolt through, washer, loose nut, NYLOCK nut and tighten till happy, but not overly...
Here is my sleeve before I trimmed the ears off and hammered into the PERFECT sleeve!
Note I did this with the mechanism in situe, and had the nuts on the UNDERSIDE.. actually looks neater than having a nut up top IMO.
We tested it WITHOUT a metal sleeve, and as the 8mm thread is narrower than the linkages hole, the shift was just FAIRLY precise, SLEEVE added and 100% better and feels factory made.
Result?
The only car Ive driven with a throw as slick is my mates 500BHP Pulsar with a £2k Quaiffe gearbox...
Not notchy, just precision.

my gears a not notchy, although it seems to take a bit more "effort" to get into gear, does anyone else get this?

Im not complaining too much... i can only think that i might have done my nyloc nut up too tight? as the rest is un-molested.
As long as the end of the cable can "move about" that should be fine.

i did it up tight with my fingers and then a turn or two with the socket.
will unloosen it a tad.
