Expensive time of year for me with wifes car (1.9TDI) due 8yr service, brake fluid change, cambelt, possible brake pads front and rear and mot!
Few questions - the cambelt was changed when last due in 2008 and the newer water pump was fitted. do i still need to change the wp now again?
Also still on original pads front and rear car only done 56k. The pads still had around 6k on them at last service but was told today when getting quotes that perhaps the discs may need changing also as they tend to corrode with age. Not checked them yet, but is it reasonable to expect the discs to last longer?
Also when pads are getting low is there not a warning light on the dash?
My wife does not drive this car hard at all! I do maybe once a year when taking it for service!
As this is looking like a huge bill, what should be a reasonable cost for:
replacing discs and pads all round
cambelt plus wp if needed
brake fluid change
full service
any recommendations for garages in Kent / dartford area
will it be less expensive to supply oem parts myself and get them fitted during service?
thanks
