Hi all,
on Monday eve my diagnostic engine light came. The car ran perfect as it did without the light on so I eliminated a coil pack failure. When I got home I got straight onto this site and did a search and it showed that it could be the water temp sensor.

I booked it into the SEAT dealer the following day and they ran all the checks and found that it was the water temp sensor. They did the work and when I came to pick it up they told me that they were unable to bo a full diagnostic check because it had a induction kit and a dump valve fitted. the advice was to take it back to factory standard and have another diagnostic check.

The diagnostic was £47
The part and fitting was £100.30

My question is.... does this sound correct advice.... I'm unsure :confused:

what kit do i need to do my own diagnosis in the future?

This is all new to me I feel a little confused:blink: :blink: :confused:
 
serial obd2 cable (or usb if stuck) and a copy of vagcom, its freely available to read fault codes but you need to register it and pay for the full version, searchy on here for rosstec.
 
Check out the VAG-COM forum section as there is info on the software and cables that you'll find interesting. It's a good investment I think.
 
silly dealers! theres probley more knowledge on here for free and your allowed an induction kit too!

vagcom is worth the money... especially if your going to map it etc.
