Just thought I would share my experiences with a door rattle from the passenger side. Had a really anoying rattle that could only be heard when going over bumps or on rough tarmac roads. Took the car to 3 seperate Seat garages, the first two could not fault it but the last did and it went away :D I was told the fault on mine was a cable that ran within the cavity space of the door was loose and not fixed down so everytime I went over a bump it vibrated.

Maybe this could be your problem too?

90% of our door noise is from the rubber seal.
Still waitng for VARNAK ro reply.

I have this problem too on my FR,the drivers door rattles when the window is fully up but if the window is down the rattle goes.It is not really loud but loud enough to be annoying, has any one else had a similar problem?

Yes same with me, not too bad though, also rear hatch rattles over uneven surfaces. Decided to get rid of soon so not bothered any more.

Our rattles are starting again first coat of this rubber conditioner lasted about one week, so i will recoat and see if it starts to soak in.

Today i have reported our problem to Seat HQ, they listened to what i had to say , but he will not do anything about it , untill he starts to get a lot of reports from the techs at our seat garages , then they will look into the matter,
So what i would like all you guys to do his put this problem across to the tech at your local garage when you go in for your sevice or other problems and ask him to write up or send a fault report to Seat HQ , then that might get the ball rolling, this applies to all you guys around the world who read on. this forum.
Cheers Guys.

i think that the best way to go is to find a way to treat the edge of the rubber sel, with some kind of lubricant or a some thing, i even thought about taping the inner edge with Sellotape or scotch tape( very thin strip over the inner edge.

Hi

I also gets lots of squeaking, rattles from the passenger side and tailgate but my local dealer (Barlow's, Wolverhampton) said they couldn't find anything!

I've read on the other car forums, Renault, Citroen and Audi that this is an common fault. It usually points to squeaking door seals. Some peeps have used Silicone tape. Almost along the lines of previous posters idea.

Others have recommended Silicone lubricant (this is actually in our Seat Ibiza handbooks.)

The stuff that has had good reviews is 1z einszett Gummi Pflege Stift. It helps prevents rubber squeaking but it's primary use it to prevent the door seals freezing to the metal bodywork. Detailingworld forum has advocated it's use.

I know a few times this happened to me last winter! Pain in the arse!!! :censored:

I can only find one seller and it appears to be from the actual company.

Here is the link :

I'm torn between trying this stuff and a more permanent solution of using an tape.

Any other ideas?

All the best

I had a rattle in my boot a short while ago then the lock stopped working and I couldn't open it. Have had the mechanism replaced under warranty and rattle is now gone. Thankfully this is the only (touch wood) problem I have had with my car. Excluding blodie dumb ass bimbo that reversed into my wheel at Brent Cross..... oh yes, and me accidently curbing my front wheel.............. that's it though hehehehehee.

I've just picked up my new car (1.6 TDi) and have a small rattle from the drivers door, it's from the inside door release handle, it sounds like the mechanism is not quite under tension, when you pull the handle out about 2mm the rattle stops, I'll put small buffer on the handle to stop it untill I can pop into the stealers.

Hi GPL

You're very welcome! :)

Hope that stuff works for you. I'm yet to order it.

I have bought some 3in1 Silicone lubricant and I have sprayed that into the lock mechanisms. You never know, it might be the door locks.

All in all, it's pants!!! I won't be buying Seat again because of it. Very poor quality build, but then they're a cheaper car from the VAG group. You get what you pay for eh.

Ok so this 1z einszett Gummi Pflege Stift came today rapid post from the guy on ebay great..
I will coat the rubbers this weekend and let you know how it goes if this stuff will last a month before recoating that will do for me, by the way this stuff should be easy to apply has it has a little sponge on the end of the little 100ml bottle you just shake well and apply around the rubbers.
Cheers.

Weird, my remaining rattle comes from, i'm fairly certain, the speaker grill. The bit with small circular holes in sits over the top of a honeycomb structure behind causing a rattly noise as it stops when the speaker grill is pushed.

Well i have put 2 coats of this 1z einszett Gummi Pflege Stift on now over the weekend and done about 200 mile and it is still rattling, i will give it a few more days, but i don,t think this stuff is going to work on our car.
I was getting better results with the meguiars mirror glaze, i will revert back to that if this stuff is no good.
I have only put one coat of meguiars on and it lasted about 6 days, so i will keep you all updated
Cheers.
