I'm gonna be selling my double din dash console. I'll be putting it on eBay this weekend keep an eye out for it if anybody is interested.

Looking forward to seeing this in action, haven't seen a Tablet install like this before but have long thought it would be a great idea... specially with the likes of Spotify etc.

Regarding the pop in/out thing what are your thoughts?

Would you be able to use a standard tablet case in reverse/butchered? Not sure if they do it for that type but some of the more rugged cases have a snug fit and it would just be a case of fitting that into the DIN space then sliding the tablet in?

Im currently waiting on my spare centre console, double din fascia and galaxy dock. I am going to fiberglass a 'case' mounting it to the galaxy dock. Ive see folk wrap the tab up and fiberglass it, sounds a little dangerous actually, but jsut have to be careful. Might be tempted take the back off. Once i've made the dock with a back, I will stick a hinge on the bottom of it, and a magnet on the back so it can click into the double din, and pop out using the push damper.

I have a small problem at the moment, when I plug the tab into the amp via 3.5 jack to RCA (input) it pops and crackles really bad.

Once it's connected it all sounds sweet, but I would have to do this everytime I enter the car. Does anyone know how to overcome this? The amp sensitivity is turned up full but it has to be in order to hear the damned speakers :confused:

I get the same interference as I plug my iPod into my home stereo I think it's normal. Doesn't the tab support audio out through the mini USB?

i done this mod last year but just rebuilt it in the centre vents..

That is a mint effort, wish I gone for the 10.1. Does it not wobble, secure enough? Well theres not going back for me now, dash is out. Would have done this otherwise! :whistle:

Its the 8.9 mate.. dont think the 10 would have been too big. . Yea its not bad tbh..velcro is great lol

A little progress. Received the Samsung tab dock and decided I don't like it because its too tight, so I butchered it, wrapped the tab in tin foil and fibreglass it. Fought hard to cut it out when it set but managed lol. Fibreglass the butchered dock to the fabricated 'case'

Still waiting on console and fascia so I can mount it to that. I will post a pic or two later

Spent a few hours here and there making this;

Bit of a ball ache getting it working, but I must be some sort of Android whiz now surely ;)

Got the spare single din console and the double din fascia (thanks to the local Seat garage £27 ). Robbery for a piece of trim but hey. Time to get hacking to make the double fascia fit the single console. Then I can work more on mounting the dock to the fascia. Pics to come

Anyone know the best surround fitment for the double din fascia? Want it to fit snug into the fascia but enough room to hinge it

you done anymore dude?

i started a little today too.. good thing i have a spare dash lol

Blimey that's a snug fit. You gona put a hinge on that or something, just thinking about access to your vents, hazards etc..

Well I have everything I need, I decided to fabricate my own holder and fiberglassed the dock to it. The tab didn't fit into the dock I bought at all. In the process of getting the climate control in then i can mount hinges and the push damper to the dock/holder. Its gona take loads of tidying up and sanding painting etc.

I decided to buy some plasti dip spray. Anyone had any experience of it?

na no vents, re positioning all the switches.. it can be removed to leaving the backing.. but ive been looking at the tab3 8" as you can do split screen on them!

Well decided to scrap the idea of a dock for my tab. Mainly for a few reasons;

1. I cant get the finish to a decent quality, i.e durable, smooth docking
2. I never use the tab so why am I trying to make it removeable.
3. Easier to make a permanent fixture.

So this is what I have come up with so far;

Sorry about the quality of the pic, I took it last night. More to come once installed
