Draining water from leak in rear footwell

I have recently and hopefully sucessfully managed to real seal the foam on my rear doors. My problem now is that there are 2 puddles of water in bioth rear footwell.

I seem to recall reading on a thread somewhere about there being some plugs or drain hole under the car to help drain away any water. Is this right or is it a case of driving round with heater on full blast for a couple of hours?

Proper puddles? or wet?.

Can't you buy a couple of rolls of cheap kitchen paper and soak it up?

Well I have used a sponge to get rid of the water that was above the carpet, but it is still really squealchy and no amount of soaking with a sponge will get it up. I suppose kitchen roll may do a better job than a sponge.

I take it there are no drain plugs/hole under the car then?

Drain plugs won't really help as the water has soaked into the carpet, much like a sponge. You either need to get a good wet/dry vac and give it a good going over to suck most of the water out of the carpet. Kitchen towel is also a good suggestion as it tends to be more absorbant than sponge.

Or stick the heaters on in the car to full and leave it toasty for a while. Or get in there with a hair dryer and blast the carpet directly for a bit to dry it out.

hair drier sounds like the best bet to me.....

I remember when my old 1.4 leaked into the front footwells I picked it up from the dealer who said there was no problem, it was fine and dry.....but they'd forgotten to switch the heater controls back from full heat into the footwells!!! Busted.... had to laugh though!
