Drivers door thinks its open all the time?

A strange problem developed yesterday after i washed the car (pressure wash rinse).

The drivers door seems to think it is open all the time. The interior light stays on although its set to only be on when door is open. The buzzer to remind you the lights are on comes on although the door is closed.

I took the car out a drive to dry it off and when i got back it was back to normal. First the interior light went out then after another 5 mins the door stopped thinking it was open. I am worried that water has got into something electrical and is shorting a circuit.

Well tonight it was raining heavy and my alarm went off. I went out to look at the car and the faults where back again. A short drive later and the interior light went out but the door still thinks its open. This is stopping me from locking th doors via the remote and also enabling the alarm.

I do have the door sensor fault where the door cant tell if it is open or not but i didn't think that would be linked to this as i have had that fault for over a year now.

Any help greatly appreciated. Don't have a clue where to look for water coming in or what it is shorting.

Sounds like the micro switch in the door is knackered, I'm sure this has been covered recently.
The micro switch is in the lock unit itself I think.
I think ScottHmk4 had this issue recently, check his posts...
The interior light goes out by it's self even if you do leave the door open, think it's about 10 minutes or so...
Can you lock the car with the key?

man do you live here?

Yeah i know my micro switch thing is faulty but this is the opposite and only happens when the car is wet, well twice.

Should have done a search before but there are a few folk who have had the same problem turned-out to be the locking mech and water getting to it. Hopefully dry tomorrow i will strip the door apart and have a look to see where the water is getting in. Anyone want to help?

So is the water getting in? - Through the key hole? I can't see that much water getting in the locking mechanism part when the door is closed ...

Thinking a rubber seal around the window might be leaking. Its back to the way it was before but doubt it will stay like that for long. When i get some free time i will strip the door back and change the locking mec as it needs replaced anyways. Car doesn't have a clue if the door is open or closed.

Thankfully i enabled the lock beep or i would have never known the door wasn't locking when i press the button.
